Concrete is priced by the square foot, but the per-foot number swings a lot with thickness, base prep, finish and site conditions. The ranges below reflect the 2026 residential market across Anna, Melissa, Princeton, Celina, Prosper and McKinney. Treat them as planning figures to sanity-check a quote — not as a substitute for one.

Concrete price ranges by type (installed)

Work typeTypical range (per sq ft)
Standard broom-finish flatwork$8 – $14
Concrete driveway (reinforced)$8 – $14
Concrete patio (standard finish)$8 – $15
Exposed aggregate finish$11 – $18
Stamped & colored concrete$14 – $22
Tear-out & haul-off (added)$2 – $6

Ranges are 2026 estimates for the Collin County area and include labor and materials for the finish shown. Thickened slabs for heavy vehicles, poor access, extensive base correction and demolition push the number up.

The seven things that move your price

  1. Slab thickness. Four inches for cars; five to six for trucks, RVs and trailers. More concrete and steel means more cost — and a slab that survives the load.
  2. Base preparation. Our expansive Blackland clay often needs stripping, moisture conditioning and compaction. Skipping this is the #1 hidden reason cheap driveways fail early.
  3. Reinforcement. Rebar grids cost more than light mesh but hold a slab together far better on moving soil.
  4. Finish. Broom is the baseline; exposed aggregate, and especially stamped and colored finishes, add labor and materials.
  5. Demolition. Removing and hauling off an old slab is real labor and dump fees — usually a few dollars per square foot on top.
  6. Access. If a truck can't get close, concrete gets moved by hand or pump, and that shows up in the bid.
  7. Site & drainage work. Grading, forming around obstacles and drainage details all add scope.

Why the cheapest bid usually isn't the cheapest driveway

On this soil, the fastest way to shave a quote is to cut the things you can't see: less base prep, a thinner slab, lighter steel, joints spaced too far apart. Those are precisely the shortcuts that produce cracking, heaving and separation within a few Texas wet-dry cycles — and then you're paying for a replacement years early. A quote that spells out base prep, thickness, reinforcement and joint spacing tells you you're comparing real work, not just a number.

Cost FAQ

Concrete cost questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost here?

As a 2026 planning range, standard reinforced concrete runs about $8–$14 per square foot installed. A ~600 sq ft two-car driveway lands roughly $5,000–$8,500 before demo, thickened sections or tricky access. An on-site measurement gives the real number.

What does a stamped patio cost?

Stamped and colored concrete commonly runs about $14–$22 per square foot installed, so a 300 sq ft stamped patio is often around $4,200–$6,600, depending on pattern, colors and sealer.

Why do quotes vary so much?

Thickness, reinforcement, base prep for clay soil, demolition, site access, finish and material prices all move the number. Two same-size jobs can differ a lot once those are counted.

Is the cheapest quote the best deal?

Rarely, on clay. Rock-bottom prices usually come from skimping on base, thickness or joints — the exact shortcuts that crack and heave within a few years. A clear, slightly higher quote is often the cheaper driveway over its life.
